Super moon

Has the Hunter’s Moon thrown anyone else off balance this week?

So it’s been a full moon this week – the first super moon of the year, known as the Hunter’s Moon.

I wonder if you saw it? It was quite spectacular.

I’m not sure about you, but I always notice that when there’s a full moon, particularly a super moon, everything in this house goes a little bit bonkers.

Hubby and I have both been fighting off some pretty nasty germs and feeling very sorry for ourselves. The other night, as we were heading up to bed, I took up a mug of boiling water to diffuse some Olbas oil around the room – only to realise at the top of the stairs that I’d forgotten to actually put the Olbas in.

So yes… definitely a bit foggy around here.

It’s not just us, though – the full moon seems to affect my children in much the same way.

A couple of nights ago, one of my children was deep in hyperfocus sorting Pokémon cards into a specific order, cross-checking everything against the Pokédex. The need to get it exactly right was causing agitation and my child couldn’t switch off until it was done.

After a period of relative calm, this came out of nowhere – and it just so happened to coincide with that powerful Hunter’s Moon lighting up the sky. So maybe it’s not just coincidence…

Do you find this too?

Does a full moon seem to stir things up in your house?

For us, it definitely takes more from me as a parent. My nervous system has to work overtime to keep the calm, hold the space, and show up as the parent I want to be. Which means I really have to lean into the things that help me regulate – to show myself extra patience, compassion and kindness.

Because that’s what helps me, in turn, show up for my children the way they need me to.

Next Friday 17th October, I’m running a free live workshop where I’ll be sharing some of the tools I use in my own life – the simple, real-life things that help when you’re on the edge and need calm in the moment, as well as ways to gently lower your baseline stress over time.

If you’ve been feeling pulled in all directions lately, I’d love for you to join me.

It’s an hour together to breathe, reconnect, and stop being quite so hard on yourself.

And in the meantime – if the Hunter’s Moon sent your household into chaos too, I’d love to hear about it. Sometimes it just helps to know we’re not the only ones feeling a little off balance.
