You’re not failing. You’re surviving.

There were days when I’d had no sleep and could barely function. I’d been screamed at, hit, had things thrown. My eyes were stinging from tiredness, my head was humming from the overwhelming noise. I was walking on eggshells trying to negotiate with a tiny child with a huge personality, whilst caring for a toddler who didn’t understand what was happening in the chaos that was our life.

No one was dressed. Mess was everywhere. We’d all been sobbing. And we were late for school – again. Although chances were, we wouldn’t make it in anyway.

Life felt relentless. I couldn’t understand why it looked so easy for other people. I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. No one understood. I felt like I was failing. I felt like I was drowning.

Somewhere in that mess, I realised something had to change. Not everything. Just the way I was showing up in it. For my children – and for myself.

I didn’t suddenly create a course. I started with the bare basics: a few minutes of meditation, gentle affirmations, tiny mindset shifts that helped me feel like I had some control. Over time, I tried different tools, read the research, and tested every theory and strategy I could find – some helped, some didn’t. But slowly, I got stronger. Calmer. More able to hold space for my kids without losing myself in the process.

This course is everything I wish I’d had back then – practical, honest, grounded in lived experience. Just small, steady steps to help you find yourself again in the chaos. We start on 4th November 2025.

Because you matter too.

Because you matter too.

This is for you if…

You’re not new to overwhelm. You’re a parent or carer of a neurodivergent child – maybe with a PDA profile – and life feels like one long string of emotional landmines, school avoidance, sensory chaos, and invisible labour. You’ve read the books. Followed the experts. Tried your best to do all the right things.

But no one is really talking about what this takes from you.

You’re not looking for some toxic positivity nonsense, or another preachy parenting course. You’re looking for something real – something that acknowledges the messy, relentless reality of your life while gently guiding you back to yourself.

This course is for you if:
• You’ve forgotten the last time you felt calm, grounded, or in control.
• You can’t remember who you are outside of parenting.
• You find yourself snapping, numb, anxious, or crying in the loo – and then beating yourself up for it.
• You want to feel stronger inside, even if your situation doesn’t change.
• You crave more space, peace, and presence – but have no clue how to make that happen when life won’t slow down.

If any of that made your chest tighten or your eyes sting – this is for you.

What You’ll Learn

This course doesn’t ask you to overhaul your life – it’s about shifting the way you feel inside it.
Each week, you’ll get simple, powerful tools to help you come back to yourself – even when everything around you feels chaotic.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Week 1: Silencing the Inner Critic
We’ll start by tackling that relentless internal voice that tells you you’re failing. You’ll learn how to notice it, interrupt it, and start replacing it with something kinder – something true. Start to speak to yourself with the same kindness you offer your kids. You’ll also get a daily meditation that becomes your anchor throughout the course.

Week 2: Finding Calm in the Chaos
This week is all about helping your body feel safe. You’ll learn simple, practical tools to calm your nervous system in the moment, shift out of survival mode, and notice the cues that tell you what you need. No fluff – just real tools that work when life is loud.

Week 3: Creating Space in a Life That Won’t Slow Down
If you’re thinking “but I don’t have time for this,” this week is for you. You’ll learn how to create a sense of space without needing your life to change. We’ll unpack the invisible load you’re carrying, let go of what’s not yours, and make small but powerful mindset shifts that ease the pressure.

Week 4: Reconnecting With Yourself
Who are you, beyond being a parent or carer? This week we’ll gently explore what you want to feel – and how you can start honouring that in tiny, doable ways. This is about giving yourself permission to matter, to want more, and to slowly reclaim pieces of yourself you’ve had to put aside.

Week 5: Building Strength to Face What’s Hard
Some things are just hard – and you can’t positive-think your way out of them. But what you can do is learn how to stop fighting yourself. You’ll learn how to sit with difficult thoughts and emotions without drowning in them – and how to keep moving towards what matters, even when it’s messy.

Week 6: Reclaiming Autonomy and Self-Compassion
This week is all about building lasting change from the inside out. You’ll learn how to take back a sense of control, redefine what success looks like in your life, and set boundaries that actually feel doable. We’ll also create something you can return to – building the kind of self-compassion that holds you steady when things get hard.

What makes this different

Let’s be real – most courses aren’t built for parents like us. They assume you’ve got time, energy, childcare, or a moment to think. I know that’s not your reality. It wasn’t mine either.

This course is different because it’s been designed specifically for parents of SEN and neurodivergent kids – especially those living with PDA, school trauma, and the daily chaos that brings.

Here’s how:

  • Live Zoom sessions, delivered weekly: short, to the point. You can show up in your pyjamas, camera off, whatever works. And if you can’t make it live, don’t stress – you’ll get lifetime access to all replays in your private member area.
  • A private Facebook group just for course members: a safe space where you can ask questions, get support, and connect with others who actually get it. I’ll be in there daily. You’re not doing this alone.
  • Realistic support that fits into your life: no long homework, no unrealistic expectations. Just thought-provoking prompts and simple tools you can use on your terms, in your time.
  • Access to me throughout: this isn’t a faceless course. I’ll be there each week to answer your questions and guide you through. If you join live, you can ask me anything directly. If not, post in the group and I’ll always reply.

This isn’t about fixing your child or fixing yourself. It’s about supporting you to feel more regulated, more grounded, and more like you again – even in the middle of the madness.

What you get

When you join, you’ll get access to:

  • 6 weekly live Zoom sessions – practical, real-time support and guidance. Each session builds on the last and walks you through your own transformation.
  • Lifetime access to all session replays – so you can watch (or rewatch) whenever it works for you, no expiry, no pressure.
  • A private members-only Facebook group – for connection, support, and daily access to me. The group will run for the duration of the course plus one extra month. After that, it’ll be archived – so you’ll still have access to everything shared, just without new posts.
  • Simple mindset prompts and downloadable resources – reflections, journaling exercises, and worksheets to help you apply what you’re learning in real life – not homework, just gentle, useful tools.
  • A guided audio meditation – including the short affirmation we start using from day one. You won’t need to find hours each week. You won’t be asked to change your whole life. You’ll be given space, tools, and support to finally start feeling more like yourself again – one small step at a time.

And that’s just the core programme – you’ll also receive incredible bonus sessions with leading experts and a special founder-only offer, all included at no extra cost. Keep reading to see the full details.

Is this for you?

This course is for you if:

  • You’re constantly on edge, surviving the day but feeling like you’re falling apart inside.
  • You’ve put yourself last for so long, you don’t even know what you need anymore – just that this isn’t sustainable.
  • You’re exhausted by the pressure to keep it all together – for your child, your family, and everyone else.
  • You want to feel calmer, more present, and more like yourself again – but don’t know where to start.
  • You need practical, grounded support from someone who gets it – not vague advice from people who’ve never lived this life.
  • You’re looking for something that fits around your reality – not another course that expects more than you can give.

This is not for you if:

  • You’re in an acute mental health crisis right now. You deserve more personalised, one-to-one support than a course can offer. Please prioritise your safety and wellbeing.
  • Your child is in a current mental health crisis and you’re not yet getting the right support around you. That needs to come first – I get it.
  • You’re looking for parenting strategies to manage your child’s behaviour – this course is about you, not them.
  • You’re hoping for a magic wand or quick fix – what we do here is gentle, gradual, and real.
  • You’re not in a place yet where you can be honest about how much this is taking from you – and how much you deserve support too.

What others have said

You don’t need another expert talking at you – you need someone who gets it. Here’s what other parents, friends, and peers have shared after hearing my perspective, support or joining my free mini course and workshop:

“Thank you Emma! I’ve felt a difference in how I have shown up with parenting and in my own self talk the rest of the day today, after managing to join this morning. With a bit more gentleness, patience and acceptance of the situation (a day ‘stuck’ at home)…. Helping my kids to get the rest and downtime they need right now. Thank you xx “

Hi Emma, thank you so much for the session today. I was sat at times in my work office trying hard not to cry in a cubicle with everyone watching me!!! It is so true – just taking those 5 minutes to breathe is impactful beyond what I could imagine (and in fact the first time I listened to your meditation my body released a tonne of pent up ‘just crack on’ emotion and I cried throughout)… “

“So, I’d had a right old few days with my PDAer including a 1.5 hour bedtime trying to dig deep to support his anxiety… I did a short somatic yoga and then your meditation in bed and when you said about being a good parent I had a good cry release as it’s so exhausting and also sad supporting PDA and the limitations it has on my son and our family.”

“Emma has a wealth of knowledge from personal experience that she is able to share in such a compassionate and encouraging way. She is a superb listener but also has built up loads of tools that can massively help those struggling with raising a neurodivergent family.”

“Emma has a beautiful calming presence and as a fellow PDA Mum, she has personally helped me to manage my own self-imposed expectations of myself and family life. I value her perspective immensely.”

“I am bowled over by your kindness – seriously! Thank you for such a lovely message and for allowing yourself to be vulnerable to support me. That’s brave, thank you.”

“This is absolute gold to me. I’m completely overwhelmed and had no idea what direction to turn. Thank you so much for sending me this message. It means the world to me.”

“Where we’re at is so far from what I imagined family life would be like… I feel like I’m doing a disservice to the boys and becoming someone I really don’t like. Your honesty and kindness helped more than I can say.”

“Emma has been an invaluable source of support in guiding me through my daughter’s journey with autism… We are deeply appreciative of the support and expertise she has provided. It feels less isolating when Emma is around.”

“You will never know how much I needed to wake to this email this morning – it almost feels like you have been sent a snapshot of my life… I have been awake for 2 hours questioning how much longer I can manage juggling work and home life whilst feeling so emotionally & physically burnt out … and feeling very isolated (who else other that ‘us’ parents really gets PDA?!). Thank you for giving me the messages I needed to hear, especially today. With love x.”

“Hi Emma, I’ve no idea if this email will ever reach you, but thank you. I had no idea how to verbalise how it felt. I’ve just forwarded your email to my husband. It says everything I needed him to hear. Thank you. xx”

“This email has landed just at the right time! … Not sure if you receive responses … Thanks for your emails, they provide just the validation I need sometimes. xx “

Emma McDonnell PDA Parenting Support

I’m Emma, a mum to two autistic boys, one with a PDA profile. I’ve lived through the emotional outbursts, the school trauma, the endless advocacy. I understand what it feels like to hold everything together for your family while you silently crumble in the background. I see you. Because I was you. I’ve rebuilt my own mental health, silenced my inner critic, and found peace in the life I’m already living. Now I want that for you too. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned – from lived experience, years of trial and error, extensive research – and created practical, realistic tools that actually work in families like ours. Not perfect solutions. Not magic wands. But solid, grounding things that can help you feel more human again. When you work with me, I’ll guide you to build your own toolkit – one that gives you moments of calm, pockets of time for you, and the mindset to stay grounded on the hard days. If you’ve ever felt like you’re holding everything together by a thread, and no one’s even thought to ask how you are – I want you to know I see you. This space was made for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I share the course with my partner or someone else in my household?
Yes. Your enrolment gives lifetime access for your household. You’re welcome to work through it alongside your partner, or with another person closely involved in your child’s care, such as a grandparent. This isn’t just about you – it’s about helping your whole family feel more supported.

What if I fall behind or can’t make the live sessions?
Don’t worry. You’ll get lifetime access to all replays inside your private member area. You can watch (or re-watch) in your own time, whenever it works for you. There’s no expiry, no pressure.

What if my week goes completely off track?
That happens. This course is designed to fit around the reality of life with neurodivergent children. If things go to hell one week, you can pause and come back when you’re ready. Everything will still be waiting for you.

Is this course about strategies for my child?
No – this is about you. It’s about your mental health, your regulation, and helping you find your way back to yourself alongside parenting. The calmer and more grounded you feel, the more it benefits your child too.

I feel guilty spending money on myself. Shouldn’t I put my child first?
I understand that guilt – I’ve felt it too. But this isn’t selfish. You’re not putting your needs ahead of your child’s; you’re learning to meet your needs alongside theirs. When you feel more regulated and supported, it helps your whole family.

Do I need to live in the UK?
No. This course is open to anyone who feels it would benefit them – everyone is welcome.

Does my child need a diagnosis?
No. Parenting can be tough. Parenting neurodivergent children can feel brutal at times. This course is designed to support you regardless of diagnosis or suspected neurodivergence. If you find yourself snapping, overwhelmed, or struggling to react how you want, you’re welcome here.

How do the payment instalments work?
I offer PayPal as an easy way to spread the cost. At checkout, PayPal automatically shows the flexible payment options available in your country – for example Pay in 3 in the UK, Pay Later in the US, and Pay in 4 in Australia. If PayPal doesn’t show an installment option for your account, you can still complete your purchase in full securely via PayPal, or choose to pay in full by card at the discounted price. Other than the options PayPal provides, all payments are taken in full.

When does the course start?
This cohort begins on 4 November 2025. If you can’t join a live session, you’ll have lifetime access to the replays in your member area.
